Biocide is a chemical substance for controlling the effects of harmful organisms. It can be found in sanitizers, disinfectant, and sterilizers.
Because of intrinsic property of biocide, we must be very careful while using chemical like hand sanitizers and the rest.
According to Dr Yawai Zhang of environmental health research at Yale University, health care providers and those that used chemical that contains biocide are at risk of developing thyroid cancer.
Researchers have not established the link between biocide and thyroid cancer, they hypothesize that biocide can alter thyroid hormone.
