A new study discovered that Zika virus can cause vision impairment in babies infected with the virus by putting scar tissue on their retina and optic nerves.
Researchers said 43 babies in Colombia and Venezuela have vision impairment after being exposed to zika by their pregnant mothers.
The vision impairment is possible in babies because zika virus normally affect development of brain and skull.
The new development shows that zika can damage eyes of foetuses, according to health experts, babies born after zika exposure in the womb may develop some neurological issues later in life.
Zika is transmitted by mosquito bite, presently their is no vaccine for Zika virus but you can reduce the risk by avoiding mosquito bite.
