When the blood flow to part of the heart is blocked by a blood clot, heart attack will occur. If this clot cuts off the blood flow completely, the part of the heart muscle supplied by that artery begins to die. Other cardiovascular conditions that can affect human heart are: heart failure, arrhythmia and heart valve problems.

International Journal of Obesity showed that fat in the thighs, hips and buttocks can reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Researchers analyzed data from different participants in diet-induced weight loss studies to see how losing thigh fat buttock fat and muscle would impact the risk of heart disease.

After considering levels of glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL cholesterol and blood pressure, they discovered that losing fat and muscle in the thighs, hips and buttocks is associated with changes in heart disease. Weight loss reduces the risk of cardiovascular risk factors, losing abdominal fat is more favorable for cardiovascular disease risk compared to weight loss in other parts of the body.
