According to Dr Luke Powles from Bupa Health Clinics, urine colour indicates hydration levels, more than one liter of water is recommended daily to remain hydrated. Alcohol and soda can cause dehydration.

The colour and smell of urine can indicate the state oh health and it can be used to start diagnosis after series of medical test. The common urine colour and their indications.

Colourless -This shows excess consumption of water. Pale straw-This is the ideal urine colour and shows the body is sufficiently hydrated.
Dark yellow -It shows high levels of dehydration.

Green-Sign of rare genetic disease, it may cause high calcium levels in the blood. It may occur after eating asaparagus or artificial colourings.
Green urine can also occur as a side effect of medications.

Orange- Sign of liver disease, malaria or bile duct disease. Red- Eating beetroot or rhubarb can cause this, it can also be a sign of infection or cancer.
